Galleries visit

I always feel peace when I check out some gallery. Perhaps it is a moment when I can be quiet and not thinking of anything else except the art piece itself. But funny to say this, I hardly go visit them in Malaysia. Thinking back why I didn’t do so kind of a disappointment in myself. Perhaps is the laziness to travel and not much information to obtain, or perhaps I think Malaysian artist is not good enough. Younger period I was naive and my ego was pretty strong. Never admit I was wrong and kind of boasting how good I am. As I get older, all this characteristics slowly diminish into thin air. It wasn’t gone, still have some little left especially when I tried to win over a conversation with my love ones. Back to why these characteristic relate to art gallery. I always think that most of the art shown in gallery was just pure connection and pure luck. How can a simple piece like this is displayed in a prestige gallery and mine still stay inside my own room. Frankly speaking, the older I get, I understood all these can’t be avoided. All you need to do is go out there and expose yourself as much as you can. There are so many unsung hero/heroine that did so many beautiful artwork which hasn’t been discover too, so how one is more successful than the other? Exposure is the answer. Go out there to promote as much as you can, sell your work, tell everyone what it meant and how you still pursue them even it is not recognise. Of course it is hard, all genre of work is hard. Nothing is easy. Perhaps artist needs to be a little more than the others, because we need to be more than just creative, we need to know how to market, we need to know how to sell our product and we need to know maths to make sure we can thrive throughout the year. Math is my least favourite, because I always want to buy some art stuffs when my creativity ran wild seeing some material that I like to use. So most problem an artist has is not knowing how to budget themselves. I’m no expert but for sure, I always try to use the leftover material as much as I can. I stop buying more paint and start to think creatively to use them all up.

Anyway, let’s get back to gallery. This week, I was a little more active to check out some galleries. First, I went to visit Kris Sagan. Her artwork is really vibrant in colours and most of it is pretty imaginative stuffs. The best part of her work is her animation. There is this app that you need to download before you enter the gallery, to experience the whole purpose of the gallery atmosphere. Here is the link for Apple Store and Google Play. The location of this gallery is in Piestany ARTA.

The next gallery which is just a stone throw away, belongs to Petra Stefankova. She is a very sweet and kind artist. She help me to get connected to the art community and that is the reason I met Jan Hubinsky. (When you try to google Jan Hubinsky, there is this other guy who do Life coaching also shares the same name. It is not him. He is an older guy who didn’t has his own website.) Back to Petra, she is a very well known artist among the Slovakia as well as in UK too. To know more details of her achievements, please click on this wiki link. To visit this gallery, it is in Piestany public library.
