Sashe market

Finally time for me to get more exposure. I know from the bottom of my heart that it is not going to be a great sales or even making any profit. But one thing for sure, Milly Milk Ville will be known by the community here in Slovakia and I can slowly introduce my product to sell in some store.
I’ve been trying to contact some of the local handmade consignment stores, even some in Barcelona and Budapest. No one reply, perhaps my products are not that interesting or they felt that I am not local. They have a very strong beliefs in only local handmade, and I am just a foreigner trying to penetrate into their market is a very tough one. But I believe, I am one of the many who struggle when introducing our handmade to try to survive in foreign country. Because you see, if I’m trying to sell back in my country, posting it will be a struggle and costly. And when they saw I’m actually overseas trying to sell my product, it might sound phony and not authentic enough. Or perhaps a scammer instead.

With this market, I met a few people who are really nice. Neighbour stalls that support and chat with me. Even some English is not their first language, they still approach me and encourage me. I felt the warmth a lot. Other than the sellers, my most adorable customer who came to see my stall were children. The colorful products of mine gave them the joy of looking at it and wondering what are some of the creatures I made. Other than the children, some do appreciate my artwork and talk to me about my process of making it which actually encouraging because I felt the acknowlegement of being visible in the market. Mostly when I started responding with English, they felt a little bit intimidating and walk away. Is hard, but checking out and catching the eye of any customers is already a compliment for me.

Here are some of the creators that caught my eye and my neigbour who encourage me a lot.

The last picture is me and my products. I would like to say thanks in my language to show my appreciation. “Terima kasih” and “谢谢”.
